This is an honest breakdown of the four major AI search engines as of 2026 — who uses each one, how they decide what to cite, and where your AEO effort should actually go.
Hard numbers are hard to come by since few platforms report granular usage publicly, but rough 2026 consensus:

Trying to "game" AI search engines with keyword stuffing. The models see through it. You can't trick an LLM the way you could early Google.
